These two flamingos represent
connection and gentle love.

From here, I will begin creating
a series inspired by parent and child relationships,
expressing different forms of love and connection.

Each piece is made to hold
precious memories and meaningful moments.

Kamehameha Schools Maui Kamehameha Schools Maui の皆様が来日し、日本文化体験が行われました。
体験内容は
「日本舞踊」「空手」「三線」、そして「狂言」「茶道」。
高田馬場茶道会館
茶道家北見和可子さん
大藏流狂言
大藏康誠さん
日本舞踊
小原あけみさん
野村流古典音楽保存会三線教師
遠藤憲悟さん
空手
様々なワークショップ
想像を遥かに超える温かい文化交流の時間でした

最後に、生徒の皆さんからのお礼にと澄み渡る歌声とフラ。

震災を経験した日本。
そして山火事という大災害に見舞われたMaui。

その想いが重なる素晴らしい歌声と
心を震わせるHULAに
自然と涙が溢れ自分との時間を重ね合わせこの場に入れた事に🥲しかありませんでした

今回友人からお話を伺い、
練習の際に使っていただける
楽譜バインダーにマウイ島の花
Lokelani（ロケラニ）のレイを描き

Kamehameha Schools Maui の皆さまへお渡しすることができました。

また皆さまと再会できる日を
心から楽しみにしています。

そして素敵なご縁を繋げてくれる心友にも感謝　かおりん　カナちゃんいつも私に一歩進む勇気をありがとう

マウイの展示に向け私も心にのこる作品つくりをしたいと改めて思える体験になりました

At the end of the cultural exchange, the students offered a gift. Their voices. And their HULA. Japan has experienced earthquakes. Maui has suffered devastating wildfires. Two islands in the Pacific connected through culture, music, and prayer. Many people were moved to tears.
When I heard this story I asked myself: “What can I do?” So I created music binders for their practice. I painted them with a Lokelani lei, the beloved flower of Maui. And I was honored to give them to the students of Kamehameha Schools Maui. I look forward to seeing everyone again in Maui this autumn.
